(After including the amendments made vide the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2002 [62 of 2002] which was passed by Rajya Sabha on 11.4.2002, Lok Sabha on 30.7.2002{with some amendments} and again by RajyaSabha on 22.11.2002 and the President of India gave assent on 17. 12.2002 and the notification was issue on 18.12.2002.The provisions of the Act are being brought into force w.e.f. 15.3.2003.
